Daily journal February 12, 2001, A short trip to Myrtle Beach via S.C. State Museum.

Dragging of sore foot from a fall, black and blue and red and resting on a pillow, We drove the hundred miles to the State Museum and then continued on via I-20 to Myrtle Beach where we were in heavy rain and arrived after nightfall in the dark at the Palace condominium hotel complex on the waterfront on South Ocean Drive. Myrtle Beach is 250 miles at the opposite end of the state. Along the way I will mention the things of some interest to me that may affect our past, present and future. The first noticeable thing what I see is a parade of highway patrol cars headed for the upstate from the capital and the legislature wants to add 50 more to help patrol seat belt law while ignoring the worst traffic menace on the highways being their legal alcohol that make drivers drunk and do cause most of the white crosses that line the highway every mile at least. This is a formal declarations that breaks my heart every one I see knowing there is a story, a life and a family behind ever cross. First, we need to stop by a Cadillac dealer to have a key made to open the trunk but after-hours of wait, we were unable to get a key made because the numbers did not match. Only the horn works with alarm which is the most awful thing Cadillac has ever done to people, a disturbance and nuisance. While we were waiting I could hear the other prices being quoted and remember the horrors of the serpentine belt that drives every thing on the car except the wheels at $90 and break so often costing us a motor in one case. A neutral safety switch quoted $75. The main key has a computer chip that unlocks the ignition and is very expensive but they had no blanks. The glove compartment button does not work and all these problems become major expense for profit to the dealer and General Motors but a disaster for the general public. It is said now that Christian books and liquor is the strongest market today and getting stronger. Since the beginning of time God his given us His Word holy and pure. The Bible’s Old Testament is as important as the New Testament but the New Testament is the fulfilling of the Old Testament. If the 10 Commandments forbid the basic sin but are not the only sin. The complicated Bible is really very simple but now we have the presence of the Holy Spirit of God to interpret and reveal to us the truth that every Man should know to put God first in our lives that we are his creation. Micah 2-1 "Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! When the morning is light they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. 2-And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage. 3-Therefore thus sayeth the Lord; Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall you go haughty-ly: for this time is evil". Never has there been more of a fit to a likeness of the greed we experienced and witness today in what God has condemned in this Scripture. They make laws to oppress people and deny rights of freedom. Give us open hearts Dear Lord to receive Thy Word and live accordingly. Give us joy and peace in our daily lives today. Columbia, the big business now is road construction and the hotel industry is changing so fast. We stopped in for lunch in Clinton what used to be a Holiday Inn but now is another foreign-owned and a quick buffet. The new owner from the Middle East gave me a free USA Today newspaper. As we journeyed on we passed the Galivant’s Ferry on highway 501 at the little Pee Dee river with a country store and big barn. It is run by what we call in these parts a redneck because the owners do not to get along I am told. A half-dozen large farm houses are visible from the road and stay there much the same year after year.
